Exploring Happiness Newsletter

Dear Reader,

Do you sometimes wonder if you are happy and how you would know if you are? I used to think, 'so, it's all going fairly well. Does that mean I'm happy? Is that it?'. Can you relate?

If you can relate, you might want to take my Happiness Audit, which I created based on all my research. Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do you take responsibility for your happiness?
  2. Can you let go of stuff, feelings & bad experiences?
  3. Do you sleep around 8 hours per night?
  4. Do you feel like you can stop and take a rest?
  5. Do you nourish your body with nutritious food?
  6. Do you like being alone?
  7. Do you invest in relationships with friends, family and community?
  8. Do you believe you can be happy?
  9. Do you actively enjoy and savour moments?
  10. Is it ok for you not to be right?

I also created the PDF below to provide context for the questions and help you see what might be important for you to work on. The aim is to answer 'yes' to all of them. The questions look at your perception of life and happiness, including how much you feel in control. They also touch on health, relationships, and mindset. Questions looking at the same aspects are deliberately not grouped.

This leads me to my offer to have a chat with you if you feel there are a few too many 'no' answers. I'm setting up a coaching business and I'm happy to offer a free call as a 'taster'. If you are interested, just answer this email.

Have a happy week!

Blue Sky

Dear Reader, I discovered a meditation centre close to my house and finally went there for the weekly 30-minute meditation session. It was about happiness - so, it's appropriate to reflect on the session in this newsletter. Let's go: Happiness from another source In times in which we, in the Western world, have access to food and nutrients, safe accommodation and all kinds of comfort, we are not happier than before. We are possibly even unhappier, although that's hard to say. Most of us see...

Life in Ruins

Dear Reader, Last week, I talked to friends who are separated, and one of them is already dating again. When we talked about that, I realised how healthy and equipped with good finances she is. While the separation had emotionally drained her, her life could just continue if she wanted to. I realised how different that was from my situation, and I'm going to write about how my life in ruins also makes me happy. Health and Finances My separation came together with my cancer. The shock was too...

Humming and happiness

Dear Reader, I've been humming a lot lately. Humming is actually connected to happiness, so let's have a look at that. Nervous systems Hmmm hmm hmmmm... and if you want to guess, yes, that's Hopeless Wanderer by Mumford and Sons. I've been humming that a lot lately. Fullheartedly. Humming makes happy, and that's why when I hum I enjoy it. I used to do it very silently, secretly, not wanting to be that crazy humming person. But nowadays, when I hum, I'm in a good mood, smiling at people who...
